The Council For Professional Recognition

During the early 1970s, a group of early childhood professionals gathered together to collaborate in aims to improve EC field. The CDA credential was ideally in rotation with several meetings to plan for an powerful impact in the ECE field.

A financial partnership with the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, Administration on Children, Youth, and Families (ACYF). Thereafter, in 1975, the CDA was awarded to its candidates.

Ten years later, in 1985, the ACYF came together with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). In this sense, a separate non-profit organization was birth out of the collaboration– The Council for Professional Recognition was established. The Council for Professional Recognition started awarding candidates with CDA certifications on September 1, 1985.
